Mary C. Owens, MSW
A Cognitive Behavioral Coach, Clinical Social Worker, Professional Speaker, Trainer, and Published Author. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Mary Washington, a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a Concentration in Mental Health from Virginia Commonwealth University and numerous post graduate certifications.
Mary has devoted her entire professional career – over 30 years working in the mental health field as a Mental Health Counselor, Program Director, and Cognitive Behavioral Coach- to working with people facing significant life challenges. She has helped hundreds of clients to manage the fears and overwhelm that often accompany change.
Mary currently specializes in helping women facing a major life transition such as relationship separation, divorce, mid-life “angst”, and retirement. She works with them to address their emotions so they can develop a positive mindset, take meaningful action, and move confidently toward the next chapter of their lives.
Mary’s first book, “Embracing Change — How to Face Your Fears and Start Taking Action” was released in April 2022. She is currently working on a follow-up book: “Embracing Stress – How to Use the Stress of Life to Your Advantage”
