Women Empowering Women (WEW)
Our WEW scholarship program provides those who’ve been out of the workforce and returning veterans with the financial, educational, emotional and professional support they need to re-enter or advance in the workplace. WEC members give of their time and talent, at no charge, throughout the recipient’s tenure.
In 2016 the WEC broadened the program’s qualifications to include women veterans. Christina Montalvan, (U.S. Coast Guard) was the first vet to join the program in 2016. For 2018-19, we awarded scholarships to Kelsey DeSantis (U.S. Marine Corps) and Yasmin Fernandez (U.S Navy), while Patzy Koppisch our 2007 recipient, received the third scholarship. Each scholarship recipient receives $2,500 towards her educational expenses, complimentary WEC membership, and of course, support of the members. Recently we awarded scholarships to Rodica Charles, who initially joined us in 2013 as a WEW recipient, and Shandrell Roscoe.
