Greetings WEC Membership & Welcome August 2023
I feel honored and humbled to have been nominated and voted in as your President for a second term in WEC’s historic 47th Year. Thank you for entrusting me once again!
I view WEC as an exclusive and extraordinary businesswomen’s organization filled with dynamic women who embody the finest attributes that a businesswoman should. Our members are welcoming, intelligent, ethical, honest, energetic, kind, diverse, capable, and successful. I hope you join me, and our fellow members, attending all our entertaining, fun, and pleasurable events throughout the coming year. I am deeply dedicated to giving my all to this wonderful organization; one that I have grown to love so much.
As many of you know, The WEC Board and I have been attending to unfinished business from this past year and implementing important improvements for our organization. On July 29th, the board spent 5 hours (in addition to our regular monthly board meeting) brainstorming and planning for the upcoming term. We are still working on multiple initiatives, including, but not limited to bylaw changes, planning fundraisers, creating attainable fundraising goals, updating board position job descriptions, streamlining our budget, and creating multiple new committees to ensure that every WEC Member has the best possible experience attending our events.
I confirmed all the 2023-24 Luncheon and Board Meeting dates, and these will all be posted on the WECFTL website forthwith. Please click the link “subscribe to calendar”, in pink at the bottom of the calendar page, and all WEC’s Events will automatically populate into the calendar of your choosing. As monthly Luncheons, Bookies, GEM’s, Pop-Up Socials etc. are added, these events will automatically be added to your calendar so you will know where and when every event is scheduled.
Very important, please take a few minutes to update your “Individual Bio’s”, on the WECFTL Website, with your correct business name, your current position, updated photo, an interesting quote, and preferred contact information. Please let Sandra Vargas know if you have any issues with completing this information.
Our first luncheon of the year is Friday, August 25th! Please note the arrival time is 11:30am for networking, the meeting/luncheon starts at 12:00pm sharp and concludes at 1:30pm. Last year we increased our membership by 30 members, so we now have over 80 fabulous ladies! Because of this amazing growth, we needed to extend our luncheon hours so we would have time at the end of the meeting for the self-introductions that are so important to all of us.
Save the date…. Marina Fayer, VP of Community Involvement, in coordination with Becky Castellano and Wanji Muraga, has organized a fundraiser on August 30th, starting at 5:30pm, at The Best Celler Wine Tasting Bar & Lounge in Wilton Manors. We can accommodate 40 Ladies at this festive fundraising event, so please RSVP as soon as possible on the WEC Website. We will be raising much-needed monies for our Women Empowering Women Scholarship Fund, while drinking delicious wines, socializing, nibbling and I’m certain lots of laughing, while supporting our special future scholarship recipients.
